Let's Go Yankees!!!!!!

We have said even before Jack was born that we wanted to take him to his first Yankee game this year because even though he is so young we wanted him to be able to see at least one game at the old stadium and have pictures of himself there before it is gone forever. Thanks to Uncle we were able to take Jack there this past Monday and we had such a good time. It was warm and there was a lot of walking to do (that my post-pregnancy body is not used to yet!) but it was the best! We like to believe that Jack actually watched some of the game too =)

Smiles are the best!!!

So it seems as though I got my wish. I was really hoping that we would get Jack's first smile at some point this week since Joe is off of work. I have even resorted to holding him up to my face and chanting smile to him while smiling myself in hopes that he will know what I am talking about and mimic me at least. So tonight Joe & I were giving him a bath and all of a sudden there it was, and twice in a row!! I really hope he's not stingy with them now though because they are the sweetest little things on his cute little face!! I will try my hardest to get them on camera as soon as he gives them to us on a normal basis =) Yay for smiles!!!!!!!

6 weeks already! Where is the time going?!

Wow, 6 weeks ago at this time I was laying in the hospital bed awaiting little Jack's arrival. Who would have thought that in less than 2 hours he would be here!

Now 6 weeks later our little guy is just getting bigger & bigger. He makes some of the best faces at us (of course I never get them on camera though) and keeps us laughing. We are anxiously awaiting his first real smile (not the gas ones) but so far nothing. I have a feeling he is going to be a little stingy with them at first. After all, he is the baby that does things on his terms and his terms only so far (remember, he came 16 days early because that's what he wanted, fighting sleep, etc.). Joe is home all this week with us and we are really hoping that he will give us a smile while daddy is home. I will keep you all updated on that.

Here are a few new pics of the chunky monkey:

Apparently Jack gives sleeping in the car a thumbs up:

He played on his playmate for the first time this week too...if you can call it that, I think Joe & I did more playing than he did, but he enjoyed it, for a few minutes anyway:

So following Kelly I decided to go ahead and contact PennyLane designs and have Marina re-do my blog. I love the whole new look of it, it's so much more fun! She was so great to work with and did everything that I asked for! I think it turned out perfect for us =)

Well now that it's all updated I guess I can go ahead and update more info on Jack...look for that in the next few days =)

YAY for my new blog look =)

Jack's first 4th

We didn't do anything for this first fourth as Jack is so young and really has no idea what is going on anyway and really just sleeps most of the time these days. I did get him dressed in a couple of cute outfits though (same onesie just different colors)...enjoy them =)

Jack's 3 weeks old today!!!

Where has the time gone?! Seriously!!! It feels like time is just flying by already. In some ways I feel like he's been with us forever, it's crazy!

Well let's see...what has happened since I last posted? Jack has since lost his belly button so it's not that gross black thing hanging off anymore and he's got a cute little button now =) He has also had his first bath which he loves! I was so worried that he wouldn't like it because he's not always all that crazy about having his diaper changed so I figured he certainly wouldn't like being undressed completely and put in to water but I was wrong. It's so fun putting him in the sink because he relaxes so much and just really likes it!

He's also had his first professional photo shoot last Friday. He was such a good boy for them and I think they came out great. As soon as I have them downloaded from the site I will post a couple of them here. I think I might take him for his 1 month pictures too (what can I say, I'm obsessed with my little guy!) so we'll see about that.

Other than all of that we are all doing great. Joe is back to work and Jack & I wait eagerly all day for him to come back home. I can't imagine that I'll have to go back to work in a few months, that is going to kill me so I try not to even think about it at all, we'll just cross that bridge when we get to it.

Tomorrow is Jack's 1st 4th of July so I'll be sure to post some pictures from that even though I don't think we will be doing anything spectacular as I think Joe has to work =( Oh well, we'll still dress him up cute =)

'til next time...

Baby Jack is HERE!!!!

So as everyone already knows, Jack Joseph made his arrival 16 days before his due date. He arrived on June 12, 2008 at 7:16pm. We weighed 6lbs 9oz & 19 1/2 inches long, oh and absolutely perfect!! I guess he didn't want to wait any longer and wanted to come out and meet everyone that was so anxiously awaiting his arrival. Either that or he heard daddy saying how he couldn't wait and really hoped that he didn't come after his due date.

As far as the birth story goes I think that everyone pretty much knows that as well but in case some of you don't, here is the short story of it. I woke at 2am that morning with what I thought were contractions but seeing as I have never done this before I really wasn't sure if that's what was going on. I waited and waited before finally tell Joe when he turned at looked at me and my awake self at about 5:45am. We drove to the city and went to his job for a little while before speaking to the Dr.'s office. When I spoke to them they told me to come on in. Joe & I headed home to go to the Dr. with the contractions getting worse and coming closer together. Once at the Dr.'s office I found out I was indeed in active labor and was already 3-4 centimeters dilated and off the hospital we were sent. Once at the hospital I seemed to be progressing well in the beginning, got my epidural between 5 & 6 centimeters and was feeling great. Once I was at 6 centimeters the Dr. put me on pitocin so that the contractions would increase and things would get going a little better the only problem was Jack was not too happy about that. All of a sudden his heart rate dropped and wasn't coming back up with me taking deep breaths and I had 3 nurses and the Dr. in the room with me moving me in all different positions until they got him stabilized. I was told that if that was to happen again that we would go ahead with a c-section. Well, I got to about 8 centimeters and it happened again so off we went to the OR.

Jack is doing great at home, and I'm not sure either of us could be any more excited! He eats like a mad man and sleeps well (for the most part). He has gone back to the Dr. since he's been home and now weighs 6lbs 13oz, as of last Friday anyway, I'm sure he's more than that now. His next appointment is at a month old and I can't wait to see what he weighs by then!

Here are a couple of links to pictures of Jack for now, I will try to update every week with new things that are going on with baby Jack =)
