Lions & Tigers & Bears

Such a fun (and exhausting) day! We took Jack to the Bronx Zoo for the first time today and we had such a good time. The weather was beautiful and it was perfect. I don't know how much he actually saw or anything like that but I do know that it was fun for Joe & I to bring him there. My Dad used to bring us there every year when we were little and I remember how much I loved going and how much I looked forward to it. Hopefully we will be able to bring Jack every year now and continue with him what my Dad did with me and hopefully Jack will love it as much as I do. I think it's a great way to start a tradition with Jack and also to bring my dad in to his life =) I will add pictures to my flickr page probably tomorrow. For now it's off to bed for me because I am beat!!!

2 month appt...not fun!

Jack had his 2 month doctor's appointment yesterday and it involved shots =( He took them like a champ though. The first was an oral shot so he sat on my lap while the doctor put a little in his mouth and he swallowed it right away and then took the rest. The doctor was so surprised at how well he took it, she said usually it takes her about 5 minutes to give that to babies and they try to spit it out. Not Jack, he took it and devoured it all right up. He must have thought she was feeding him and since he never misses a meal he drank it all right up. Next were the actual shots and he was not a happy camper. He had 3 shots to get, 2 in one leg and one in the other. He screamed when she gave them to him but as soon as she was done I gave him his bottle and he was all better =)

Later that night was another story, he cried and it was awful. I held him in my bed and rocked him and cried right along with him. I felt so bad because he was hurting and there really wasn't too much I could do to make it stop. I eventually gave him tylenol and we went to bed and he slept with me all night =)

Ok, now to the better news...our little boy isn't so little anymore! He now weighs 11lbs 5oz and is 22 3/4 inches long! It's ridiculous how big he is getting and how fast! I am so happy he is growing well and everything is good but I would love it if time could stand still for just a little while. If anyone knows how to do this, please share the secret!

This might hurt me more than it will hurt him!

2 months old already...where has the time gone? I feel like I blinked when he was born and time just fast forwarded to now. Jack is getting so big and so fast, I wish I knew the recipe to make time stand still for a little while. He is becoming his own person and really letting his personality show through these days. He has started coo'ing and it's the best thing in the world, next to his smile that is. He lays on his playmat and "talks" to all the things around him on it. His lack of patience when it comes to eating hasn't gotten any better yet, but then again I don't expect it to seeing who his daddy is (and mommy I guess) =)

Today is his 2 month appointment and he is getting shots today. The Dr. said it would be 1 oral shot and 3 shots in his leg. I am dreading this so much and have been apologizing to him all week so far. I know he's a baby and it will possibly hurt for a second and then he'll forget about it but I don't think I'm going to have an easy time with it at all. I can only remember when I went with my sister Nikole to my niece's shots and it was awful. I remember my sister having to hold her still on the table while the nurse gave the shots. Jenna cried, Nik cried & I cried and she wasn't even mine! I will have Joe there with us today so hopefully that will help a lot, but I know I will cry anyway and he'll just make fun of me, lol.

Ok, that's all for now I guess, I will update later with his height & weight from today. For now here is a link to pictures from through out his second month =)

He loves his playmat!

I decided to take a little video of Jack as he was on his playmat. I tried to get smiles out of him but he's still being a little stingy with them. He doesn't "play" too much but he's still cute on there =)

8 weeks - not 2 months!

I was telling Joe the other day how I couldn't believe Jack was going to be 8 weeks old today (Thursday) and he said "yeah, 2 months" and I said no, 8 weeks. Just like last month I had to explain that 8 weeks does not necessarily mean 2 months because he won't officially be 2 months until next Tuesday (the 12th). Guys just don't get it sometimes I think.

Jack had his very first playdate on Tuesday. We got together with my friend Melissa and her little boy Eddie who will be 1 next month. We had such a good time and I think Jack was just in awe of seeing another baby because this was a first for him. We took the boys to the beach and walked on the boardwalk. It's been a while since I've been to the beach and forgot how much I love to just look out at the ocean. Hopefully we'll be able to bring Jack back there again when he's a little older so he can actually enjoy it.

We have hit a few milestones now too as we get to the 2 month mark. Jack now smiles a lot more and will do so when we play with him which is so cute. He is still a little stingy with them but he's getting better =) Another milestone is he can roll from his belly to his back. I didn't believe it at first and figured it was just a fluke when he did it the first time but since then he has done it about 3 times. I try tummy time with him on his belly on his playmat and he gets so annoyed that he actually is able to get himself on his back and then quickly calms down. He is just getting way too big too fast!

Next Thursday we are going for his 2 month doctors appointment and I'm not really looking forward to it at all. I can't wait to see how much he weighs and how long he is, especially since he feels so hefty these days but I am not looking forward to my poor little guy getting shots for the first time. I can still remember going with my sister Nikole to my niece Jenna's doctor's appointment where she got shots and all 3 of us were in tears. Hopefully Jack won't cry too much, we shall see I guess.
