New Layout ~ New look

So following Kelly I decided to go ahead and contact PennyLane designs and have Marina re-do my blog. I love the whole new look of it, it's so much more fun! She was so great to work with and did everything that I asked for! I think it turned out perfect for us =)

Well now that it's all updated I guess I can go ahead and update more info on Jack...look for that in the next few days =)

YAY for my new blog look =)

Jack's first 4th

We didn't do anything for this first fourth as Jack is so young and really has no idea what is going on anyway and really just sleeps most of the time these days. I did get him dressed in a couple of cute outfits though (same onesie just different colors)...enjoy them =)

Jack's 3 weeks old today!!!

Where has the time gone?! Seriously!!! It feels like time is just flying by already. In some ways I feel like he's been with us forever, it's crazy!

Well let's see...what has happened since I last posted? Jack has since lost his belly button so it's not that gross black thing hanging off anymore and he's got a cute little button now =) He has also had his first bath which he loves! I was so worried that he wouldn't like it because he's not always all that crazy about having his diaper changed so I figured he certainly wouldn't like being undressed completely and put in to water but I was wrong. It's so fun putting him in the sink because he relaxes so much and just really likes it!

He's also had his first professional photo shoot last Friday. He was such a good boy for them and I think they came out great. As soon as I have them downloaded from the site I will post a couple of them here. I think I might take him for his 1 month pictures too (what can I say, I'm obsessed with my little guy!) so we'll see about that.

Other than all of that we are all doing great. Joe is back to work and Jack & I wait eagerly all day for him to come back home. I can't imagine that I'll have to go back to work in a few months, that is going to kill me so I try not to even think about it at all, we'll just cross that bridge when we get to it.

Tomorrow is Jack's 1st 4th of July so I'll be sure to post some pictures from that even though I don't think we will be doing anything spectacular as I think Joe has to work =( Oh well, we'll still dress him up cute =)

'til next time...

Baby Jack is HERE!!!!

So as everyone already knows, Jack Joseph made his arrival 16 days before his due date. He arrived on June 12, 2008 at 7:16pm. We weighed 6lbs 9oz & 19 1/2 inches long, oh and absolutely perfect!! I guess he didn't want to wait any longer and wanted to come out and meet everyone that was so anxiously awaiting his arrival. Either that or he heard daddy saying how he couldn't wait and really hoped that he didn't come after his due date.

As far as the birth story goes I think that everyone pretty much knows that as well but in case some of you don't, here is the short story of it. I woke at 2am that morning with what I thought were contractions but seeing as I have never done this before I really wasn't sure if that's what was going on. I waited and waited before finally tell Joe when he turned at looked at me and my awake self at about 5:45am. We drove to the city and went to his job for a little while before speaking to the Dr.'s office. When I spoke to them they told me to come on in. Joe & I headed home to go to the Dr. with the contractions getting worse and coming closer together. Once at the Dr.'s office I found out I was indeed in active labor and was already 3-4 centimeters dilated and off the hospital we were sent. Once at the hospital I seemed to be progressing well in the beginning, got my epidural between 5 & 6 centimeters and was feeling great. Once I was at 6 centimeters the Dr. put me on pitocin so that the contractions would increase and things would get going a little better the only problem was Jack was not too happy about that. All of a sudden his heart rate dropped and wasn't coming back up with me taking deep breaths and I had 3 nurses and the Dr. in the room with me moving me in all different positions until they got him stabilized. I was told that if that was to happen again that we would go ahead with a c-section. Well, I got to about 8 centimeters and it happened again so off we went to the OR.

Jack is doing great at home, and I'm not sure either of us could be any more excited! He eats like a mad man and sleeps well (for the most part). He has gone back to the Dr. since he's been home and now weighs 6lbs 13oz, as of last Friday anyway, I'm sure he's more than that now. His next appointment is at a month old and I can't wait to see what he weighs by then!

Here are a couple of links to pictures of Jack for now, I will try to update every week with new things that are going on with baby Jack =)

Painting is done...3 weeks left!!!!!!

Joe & I were hard at work last weekend and early this week and finally painted (and finished) the wall that will be behind baby Jack's crib & dresser. We love how it came out, what do you think?:

Now we just need the new crib to arrive and we'll be all set to go =)
I had a Dr.'s appointment this past Wednesday and all is well. My swelling in my feet has increased a lot but the Dr.'s aren't concerned because they said my blood pressure is great! They checked me and I've made no progress so apparently baby Jack isn't too eager to come out just yet which is a good thing for now =) His head is way down there though so he's just hanging out. My next appointment is next Friday so we'll see what they say then.
Oh and 2 other pieces of good news....tomorrow (Saturday 6/7) I will be officially full term since the Dr.'s consider 37 weeks as full term (YAY!!!) and also hmmm...what was the other piece of good news....Oh yeah, I only gained 1lb this appointment...YAY for me!!!
Ok, more next week =)

36 weeks & New Crib

WOW...36 weeks down and only 4 more to go!!! There has been a few things going on lately that I figured I would update everyone on. On Friday 5/23 I found out that the maker of our crib might be recalling a bunch of cribs and in the meantime they have had them all pulled from Babies R US' show room and also online and there is a no sale on them right now. They keep saying it is for a "quality reassurance" but now a week later and still no word I just wasn't comfortable keeping this crib. I was so upset because (as you remember from our Quest for the Crib) this was my favorite crib and I just couldn't see keeping it and worrying that Baby Jack would one day be the one who found what was wrong and got hurt in it. Babies R Us was great with all of it and they let us return the crib and order a new one from a different brand. We went on Saturday and took care of this and now we just have to wait for the new one to come in.

Now with the old crib out of the way we finally got a chance to paint (maybe everything does happen for a reason). Joe & I painted yesterday and now we just have final touches to finish up during the week and we are so excited. We haven't really revealed what our plans for painting were so come back for updates and pictures when it's all done =)

As for Dr.'s appointments, last week started my weekly ones. I went on Wednesday 5/28 and was lucky enough to have my first internal done (sense the sarcasm?!). It really wasn't as bad as people have said it was though. Anyway, here's the news, I'm not dilated at all, which is good because it's a little too early for me for that, she said I am starting to thin out a little though so with that and the fact that baby has started to drop or has dropped already the Dr. says that she is estimating that Jack will be about a week early, but as she said it was just her estimation. Joe was so excited to hear this because he would like him to be born on 6/23 since it's a Monday and he figures we'll start the week off right... think he's excited much?!?! The Dr. also said that she thought last week he was about 5 1/2 - 6lbs and she also says she doesn't think he will be that big of a baby and doesn't see me having a 10lb'er, which is great for me! She says she thinks he'll be about 7 to 7 1/2 lbs, which sounds good to me =)

Ok, that's all for now I think. Next appointment is this Wednesday so I will update again after that one.
Here is a picture I took last week in the bathroom here at work. I know a bit strange but I figured why not =) :
